Over the past 24 years, I have taught workshops around the world. I have demonstrated drawing with a sewing machine for Jenny Murray on R4's 'Women's Hour', I've taught Kirstie Allsopp a 'Drawing with Stitch' master class on Kirsty's Homemade Home and have a fabulous workshop review by Emma Kennedy's 'Eccentric Britain' The Guardian. (See Press)
I love teaching and I feel I have a responsibility to ignite the creative potential in the people that I meet.

SUPERSTITCHERS - What's it all about?
These workshops are suitable for all abilities as I teach new and fun approaches to drawing with stitch.
With the aid of relaxed and spacious surroundings, sherry, music and enthusiasm we get cracking on creativity.
To begin, we concentrate on mark making on paper and then move to drawing with the sewing machine, creating painterly surfaces and embroidery and embellishing with stitchery witchery and sparkle.
I demonstrate at regular intervals the techniques that I use in my studio, enabling students to sit back, rest and usually have a laugh. At the end of the course you will have a fun and unique caricature and the skills and confidence to go home and start experimenting on your own machine. Suitable for beginners and anyone who wants to learn spontaneous ways of working or to kick start their creativity or be re-inspired.
- You WILL be encouraged to take wonderfully exciting risks with thread and colour.
- You WILL leave with your very own 'Lou Gardiner inspired piece of artwork which will spring board you into your own creative development. ......................................................................................................
Students are required to bring their own sewing machine.
I use a BERNINA 1008 which are ideal for drawing and creative work. Your sewing machine needs to do 'FREE MOTION EMBROIDERY/ DARNING with an appropriate foot and you also need to be able to take the 'feed dog teeth down'.
See this link to see the presser foot that I use -http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Products-us/BERNINA-products-us/BERNINA-Accessories-us/Presser-feet-us/Darning-foot-en
