In 2012 I created a series of tumbleweeds for 'The Project Space' at Collect, The Saatchi Gallery. A show which promotes contemporary craft, I decided to make a series called 'You Blow me Away'. This series told the story of a fictitious tumbleweed which, when blown, fractures at its roots and metamorphosis's into a power ball of energy. Synonymous with an artists life, this tumbleweed embarks on a mysterious and unknown journey, collecting experiences, shedding and inspiring others and occasionally getting caught on others or barbed wire fences.
My tumbleweeds celebrate the wonderful processes - embroidery, painting, applique and beading. These humble yet powerful materials can tell a story that resonates through time.
